What was the highlight of ウィスパリング パームス ホテル（Whispering Palms Hotel）
Good
The resort is situated right on the beach and you can literally walk out on the beach from the resort. The rooms were spacious (with a sit out area) and clean. Breakfast had very few options but was wholesome. There are multiple restaurants within walking distance on the beach and a couple of them (Janu's and Palm) were really good. The hotel was able to arrange a cab for a decent price for a day trip to Galle and also helped us with the drop back to Colombo.
For some reason, the place seemed to attract a lot of flies. There should have been some screen for the balcony and some pest control light/device in the rooms. This was even after the rooms were cleaned regularly, so it seemed to have to do something with external environment rather than the cleanliness of the place itself. The location is a bit far away from markets and if you want to buy anything, you have to travel a bit via tuktuk.

Lovely hotel and location
This is a very nice property, very clean and well kept. It is right on a nice beach and the hotel itself has a lovely pool. The rooms are large with nice big balconies, all sea-facing. The bathrooms are modern. Air conditioning is very efficient and super quiet. The breakfast is good. The staff are lovely and polite. You get beautiful views of the sunset here whether from the beach or your balcony. There are a few decent little beach restaurants either side of the hotel. Janu's Paradise in particular had good food and a friendly welcome.
I am not going to be over-critical because I know the economic state Sri Lanka is in right now and the tourist industry is just taking the first steps towards recovery. There are fuel and food shortages all over the country but yet it is still such a beautiful friendly and welcoming place. The following may bother some travellers however so worth pointing out. There seems to be a slight issue with hot water in the shower in that it needs to run for a good ten minutes before the water gets warm. There is no TV in the room - it didn't bother us as we were only there for a few days but as there is also not a lot doing in the evenings (the resturants round about are fairly quiet and shut around 11), this may bother some people.
